I’VE NEVER SEEN A LOOK LIKE THAT BEFORE
I was about to rush over to congratulate her after the performance, but I stopped short. She happened to look up just as she was fiddling with the lamp at the edge of the stage. That look was such that I changed my mind. It wasn’t directed at me, but something so pure and direct radiated from his presence that I felt I would burst into tears if I went over there.
The next day, at the garden satsang, that penetrating gaze felt so good. By then, I had given up on presenting my brief artistic biography. As she looked at me while we exchanged a few words, the burden of needing anyone’s approval just fell away from me. I didn’t understand what was happening, but I went home with such warmth in my heart; my heart was enveloped in a soft, warm, rosy-red cloud, just like the bouquet of Pentecost roses I’d placed in her hands upon my arrival. She came out of the house alone, wearing no jewelry, dressed simply in a saree. Silently, she took the flowers and placed them before the image of the gurus. As I was leaving, seeing her sitting there, I felt a desire to bow to her feet—even though I’d hardly ever seen anything like that, not even in a movie. But there I stood, hesitating among the departing guests. I didn’t want to say goodbye to her. I didn’t know if I’d ever see her again; I just felt that she would remain with me in my heart.
The first day I spent with her took place a year later, on Gurupurnima in Europe. This is where the things begin that cannot be easily described. I am grateful that I was able to be there… The all-day celebration, her little feet bathed in flowers, his loving gaze, and that presence from which I have been learning ever since and which has a transformative power. This happened right after my sixtieth birthday, when I was longing so much for a kind of synthesis, for wisdom, and for a connection to the divine.
As I watched her sing with her hands raised toward the sky, her face streaked with tears, I felt a lump in my throat—this is how I wish speak to the heavens.
It’s wonderful that these songs help us connect with God day after day. The masters convey their message through them; through them, we can connect to the flow of the divine guru lineage.
When I went to the ashram, I had no other choice—my heart longed to be there so much. . What I experienced in the presence of the Baul masters was breathtakingly beautiful—humility and wholeness all at once. I had never seen anything like it before.
It’s impossible to describe all the wonders I’ve experienced since I first saw Her three years ago, and for the past two years I’ve been following Him wherever I can
Thank you for the dreams that appeared after each of our meetings with such powerful symbols—if I’m ever able to, I’ll paint them. Thank you for the closeness, the opportunity to serve, and the trust.Thank you for everything
So many changes have taken place in my life.
I am very grateful.
