Satsang Darpan
Satsang Darpan is inspired by the Hari Katha of the Baul akharas (small ashrams). It is also called Cha Seva - a space of having tea together where Baul Masters and seekers would sit together with tea delving into contemplation on the Divine.
Anybody could walk into the satsangs at these akharas and participate.
This means that traditionally, satsangs would be held in small, intimate spaces without the need for microphone. There was a closeness between the seekers and the Guru or acharyas, both in terms of proximity as well as in the open heart-to-heart conversation that could take place in earnest between them.
Satsang Darpan is a continuation of this tradition.
Parvathy Maa and Sri Ramachandra offer satsang in different places around India and the world - where seekers invite them to gather for moments of being in the company in Truth together.
How does a Satsang Darpan look like and who can attend?
Everybody is welcome to attend Satsang Darpan offerings.
However, as we continue to emphasise the traditional intimate nature of these satsangs, only a few people can be present.
Anyone may ask any questions they have related to practice or the spiritual path. One need not be a practitioner to ask a question.
It is also not necessary for someone to be from the same path. Seekers who attend Satsang Darpan may be part of another lineage or not have any education about spiritual practice at all. Adhyatmika - spirituality - and in this way also Satsang Darpan - is open for anyone who wishes to come and put their questions in front of the acharyas who are taking the seat at the satsang.
It is an open conversation about sadhana.
It means that Satsang Darpan it is very different from a retreat or a teaching as such, where full focus is given on teaching and learning.
Satsangs by Maa Parvathy Baul and Sri Ramachandra
For over 25 years, Parvathy Maa has been offering satsang alone.
In the recent year, she has entrusted Sri Ramachandra to become a strong part of Satsang Darpan, giving satsangs individually or together with Parvathy Maa.
In future, Parvathy Maa envisages she will also entrust more disciples to offer satsang and participate in holding the space of Sanatan Siddhashram in this way.
Why do we offer Satsang Darpan?
The greater aim of Satsang Darpan is to bring more awareness about the inner practices of the Baul to people across all walks of life.
Seekers shall receive opportunities to get more familiar with the padas and padavalis of the Baul, and with the teachings of the Baul.
In essence, Satsang Darpan shall serve to give seekers more insight into the inner spiritual essence of Baul.
This is the way in which Parvathy Maa has been serving.
Sri Ramachandra, acharya at Sanatan Siddhashram, has a strong focus on devi upasana, and through Parvathy Maa's close guidance, he is on the path of Baul sadhana and has gained a deep understanding about Baul. Through the satsangs Parvathy Maa asks him to offer, he is giving insight into the spiritual process in the path of Devi worship, Guru Yog and the inner spiritual process.
With this essence said, it is an aim of Satsang Darpan to foster and nourish a community of earnest seekers and to have a hear-to-heart conversation through the opportunity of gathering in these satsangs.
Baul as the ground that holds all spiritual streams
Sanatan Siddhashram is a spiritual university - Sanatan Siddhashram Adhyatmika Vishwa Vidya Satra.
Baul is the essence of the all Indian knowledge systems. In this way, it is the meeting point, or the confluence of the entire spiritual path.
For this reason, Baul is able to be the base, the ground of this spiritual university which holds all.
It is open to all streams and traditions.
In this way, we have been hosting many different kind of retreats of Baul as well as other such focussed on simple tantric rituals, meditation and yoga.
This spiritual university, Sanatan Siddhashram, holds practitioners from different paths who can live harmoniously together and do their practice.
